Hour of Power | The Ultimate Workout

The Hour of Power is a truly full-body fitness experience. Based upon a revolutionary approach to exercise and health known as Fitness4x4 ®, the Hour of Power class challenges your mind and body from beginning to end, helping you to develop your cardio-vascular fitness in a more complete way than ever before. Unlike circuit training, aerobics or even body-conditioning classes, in the Hour of Power your upper body is trained to contribute just as much as the lower body to your cardiovascular workout. And though many studio workouts can boast an upper-body element to their format, there is no workout in the world which develops the upper and lower body fitness balance as effectively as the Hour of Power ®.

Add to this an attention to Core Strength which would rival the finest Pilates class; a development of breathing control rarely seen outside the art of Yoga; an emphasis on mental focus typically only found in the Martial Arts; and a level of energy which would exceed any BodyPump or Spin class. Bold statements perhaps, but in the 25years Hour of Power has been positively impacting hundreds of people’s fitness, we have never been proven wrong.

The Hour of Power was first introduced in London in 1985, in a format that has barely changed to this day. The reason for this is simple – it works!

What makes the Hour of Power special is not the things we share with other good workouts: great music, high-energy instructors; the ability to make you sweat and enjoy doing so! These things are not unique – even if they are great! What makes Hour of Power special is that unlike any other class it will bring your body into true fitness balance. More than half the muscles in your body are located in the upper body and yet most people have a fitness capacity which is almost 10:1 in favour of their leg muscles. Perhaps this is a product of the era we live in, where on a daily basis the upper body no longer has to perform physically demanding tasks to aid survival. Whatever the reason, the interesting part is that instead of correcting this imbalance, most fitness classes further highlight this imbalance by taking the lower body to even greater levels of fitness, while the upper body looks on like a passenger.

‘Fitness’ cannot be defined by muscle size or shape, or by how good you are at performing a particular skill. However, it can be defined by your body’s ability to produce energy – using the upper and lower body. To have great vitality, energy and physical condition you need to be a great energy producer, and this will take the perfect combination of muscular conditioning and cardio-vascular conditioning – in the upper and lower body! This is precisely what the Hour of Power seeks to give you and why the better you get at Hour of Power, the more you are able to achieve the perfect combination of strength, muscle tone, endurance, cardio and lean-ness that most of us are striving for.

We look forward to seeing you in class!

I genuinely couldn't recommend a better training method or regieme that is more intense and fulfilling than the hour of power. My sport is football and after competing at U21 international level for two years and playing semi proffesionally for over five years i have experienced many training methods through training camps across europe and i have not come across an exercise class that is similar to the hour of power.
